Pokémon Infinite Fusion gives the familiar Kanto adventure a completely different feel. You still collect badges, fight Team Rocket and work toward the Pokémon League, but fusion mechanics, new areas, altered puzzles, side quests and a much larger postgame mean it is easy to lose track of where you should go next.
This Pokemon Infinite Fusion walkthrough follows the main progression from Pallet Town through all eight Kanto badges and the Pokémon League, then continues through Johto, the Sevii Islands, all 16 badges and Mt. Silver.
Quick answer: The main progression is Pallet Town → Viridian City → Pewter City → Cerulean City → Vermilion City → Lavender Town → Celadon City → Fuchsia City → Saffron City → Cinnabar Island → Mt. Ember → Viridian City → Pokémon League. After becoming Champion, continue through Johto and the Sevii Islands until you have all 16 badges and can enter Mt. Silver.

The exact Pokémon used by trainers can change according to game mode, difficulty and version, so this walkthrough focuses primarily on story progression, locations and objectives rather than giving you trainer teams that may no longer match your save.
The newer community walkthrough itself notes that Classic and Remix do not use identical encounters or Gym/Elite Four teams.
Before Starting Your Adventure
Pokémon Infinite Fusion is not just Pokémon FireRed with fusion added. Understanding a few differences before leaving Pallet Town will save you a lot of trouble later.
The biggest difference is obviously the fusion system. DNA Splicers allow two Pokémon to become one Pokémon, combining characteristics such as typing, stats, moves and abilities.
Do not feel that you have to permanently commit to your first fusion. Experimentation is an important part of the game. Some combinations that look strange can be surprisingly strong, while two individually powerful Pokémon do not automatically produce the perfect fusion.
You should also speak to NPCs. Infinite Fusion puts useful items, quests, trades, information and progression mechanics behind characters that players of the original Pokémon games might otherwise ignore.
Pallet Town – Beginning the Game
Your journey starts in Pallet Town.
Before heading downstairs, check the PC in your bedroom. In the established Classic progression, you can obtain a Potion here, which can be useful during the opening rival battle.
Continue downstairs and then leave the house.
Professor Oak eventually introduces you to your starter choice. On a normal first playthrough, your choices follow the traditional Kanto starters:
- Bulbasaur
- Charmander
- Squirtle
Choose whichever one you prefer. Fusion mechanics make the traditional question of the “best starter” less important because you can later combine your starter with another Pokémon to cover weaknesses or create a stronger role for it.
Your rival uses the remaining starters in a way that immediately introduces one of Infinite Fusion’s central ideas: fused Pokémon can behave very differently from their original species.
After your first rival encounter, Professor Oak sends you toward Viridian City.
Route 1 and Viridian City
Travel north through Route 1 until you reach Viridian City.
Your first visit is mainly about collecting Professor Oak’s Parcel from the Poké Mart. Once you receive it, return to Pallet Town and give it to Oak.
This unlocks more of the normal Pokémon-catching progression and allows your adventure to begin properly.
When you return to Viridian City, do not worry about the Gym. Although Viridian is one of the first cities you reach, its Gym is intended for much later in the story.
Your actual first Gym is in Pewter City.
Optional Route 22 Rival Battle
Before heading north toward Viridian Forest, explore Route 22 west of Viridian City.
There is an optional rival battle here, and completing it can also open access to additional early-game content such as the Secret Garden in versions where that event is present. The community 6.8 walkthrough specifically identifies the Route 22 rival battle as the requirement for accessing the Secret Garden from Route 1.
It is not required for beating Brock, but it is worth doing if you want to explore more of the game.
Viridian Forest
From Viridian City, travel north through Route 2 and enter Viridian Forest.
This is your first proper opportunity to expand your team.
Do not judge Pokémon only by whether their base form is useful. A Pokémon that appears weak can become extremely valuable when fused with something that improves its typing, ability or stats.
Work through the forest, battle trainers for experience and continue north until you reach Pewter City.
Badge 1 – Brock in Pewter City
Your first major objective is Brock at Pewter Gym.
In Classic progression, Brock remains associated with Rock-oriented Pokémon, but his fused team means simply remembering the original Red and Blue battle is not enough.
Water and Grass attacks are naturally useful early options, while Fighting or Ground coverage can also be valuable depending on your available team.
Defeating Brock gives you your first badge and opens the route east of Pewter.
Where to Go After Brock
Leave Pewter City through the eastern exit.
Your next route is:
Pewter City → Route 3 → Mt. Moon → Route 4 → Cerulean City
Route 3 and Mt. Moon
Route 3 provides additional trainer battles before you enter Mt. Moon.
Use these battles to level more than one or two Pokémon. A common Infinite Fusion mistake is putting almost all your experience into a single impressive fusion. Later bosses can expose one bad defensive matchup very quickly.
Mt. Moon is also an important early Team Rocket location.
Explore rather than immediately rushing toward the exit. Caves in Infinite Fusion regularly contain items, optional encounters and paths that become more useful when you return with additional field abilities.
Eventually you will emerge on Route 4 and continue toward Cerulean City.
Download the Game from Pokemon Infinite Fusion.
Badge 2 – Misty in Cerulean City
Cerulean City is home to Misty, your second Gym Leader.
Electric and Grass coverage are obvious options against Water-focused opponents, although fused Pokémon can introduce secondary typings that change ordinary type matchups.
One important Infinite Fusion mechanic is that Gym battles may restrict how many Pokémon you are allowed to use based on the Gym Leader’s team, so building a balanced group matters more than simply carrying six Pokémon.
Defeat Misty to earn the second badge.
Do not immediately rush south afterward. There is important story progression north of Cerulean.
Nugget Bridge and Cerulean Cape
Head north from Cerulean City toward Nugget Bridge.
Battle your way across the bridge and continue through Route 25 toward Cerulean Cape.
Your major objective here is Bill.
Infinite Fusion naturally gives Bill’s famous Pokémon experiment a fusion-related twist. Complete his event and you will receive what you need to access the S.S. Anne.
Once that is finished, return to Cerulean City and prepare to travel south toward Vermilion.
Route 5, Route 6 and Vermilion City
Travel south from Cerulean.
Direct access through Saffron City is not yet your main path, so continue toward Vermilion City.
Vermilion contains one of the most recognizable sections of the Kanto adventure: the S.S. Anne.
Explore the ship carefully. You will encounter trainers and important story progression while working toward the ability required to clear obstacles that previously blocked your route.
Once you have completed the S.S. Anne section, you can challenge the Vermilion Gym.
Badge 3 – Lt. Surge in Vermilion City
Lt. Surge is your third Kanto Gym Leader.
Ground-type attacks are naturally useful against Electric Pokémon, but again, fused secondary typings can completely alter a matchup.
At this point you should begin thinking about your team in terms of roles rather than simply favorite Pokémon.
Try to maintain:
- reliable physical damage;
- reliable special damage;
- useful type coverage;
- at least one Pokémon capable of taking repeated hits;
- answers to common status conditions;
- few overlapping weaknesses.
After defeating Lt. Surge, your next major destination is Lavender Town, reached through the Rock Tunnel route.
Route 9, Route 10 and Rock Tunnel
Return toward Cerulean and travel east through Route 9.
Continue toward Route 10 and Rock Tunnel.
Rock Tunnel is dark, making a Flash-style field ability or its replacement especially helpful.
This is also a good point to start completing more optional quests. Infinite Fusion frequently rewards exploration with quality-of-life items that replace traditional HM functions.
Continue through Rock Tunnel until you reach Lavender Town.
Keep the Pokemon Infinite Fusion Map open while following the walkthrough to locate routes, towns, and important areas. You can also prepare for major battles with the Pokemon Infinite Fusion Gym Leaders guide, find useful resources through Pokemon Infinite Fusion Items, learn more about the adventure in the Pokemon Infinite Fusion Story, and consult the Pokemon Infinite Fusion Wiki whenever you need additional information.
Lavender Town
When you first arrive in Lavender Town, Pokémon Tower cannot yet be completely resolved.
Rather than spending too long trying to force your way through the tower, continue toward Celadon City.
You will return to Lavender after obtaining the item needed to identify the mysterious Pokémon inside the tower.
Badge 4 – Erika in Celadon City
Celadon City is one of the most useful locations in the game because it contains several shops, NPC interactions and story events in addition to its Gym.
Your fourth Gym Leader is Erika.
Fire, Flying, Ice, Bug and Poison coverage can all be useful depending on the exact Pokémon and fusions you encounter.
Defeat Erika for your fourth badge.
More importantly, continue investigating Team Rocket’s operations around Celadon.
The Team Rocket storyline here leads toward obtaining what you need to properly investigate Pokémon Tower.
Return to Pokémon Tower
Once you have the required progression from Celadon, return to Lavender Town.
You can now make proper progress through Pokémon Tower.
Fight your way upward and complete the sequence involving Mr. Fuji.
Finishing Pokémon Tower rewards you with an important item that allows you to deal with the sleeping Snorlax blocking major routes.
This opens two possible approaches toward Fuchsia City.
Getting to Fuchsia City
You can travel toward Fuchsia using either side of Kanto.
One route takes you through Cycling Road, while the other takes the longer eastern route through Routes 12–15.
It is worth eventually exploring both.
The eastern path in particular contains trainers, items and places you may want to revisit after obtaining additional field abilities.
Your main objective for now is simply reaching Fuchsia City.
Badge 5 – Koga in Fuchsia City
Fuchsia Gym is led by Koga.
Psychic and Ground coverage can be particularly valuable against Poison-oriented Pokémon, although individual fusions can create exceptions.
Defeat Koga and collect your fifth badge.
This stage of the game also gives you access to progression that makes previously inaccessible obstacles much easier to handle.
Once Fuchsia is complete, the main story sends you back toward Saffron City.
Saffron City and Team Rocket
Saffron was inaccessible earlier, but story progression eventually allows you to enter.
Team Rocket has taken control of the city, so do not go directly to the Gym and expect normal progression.
First deal with the Team Rocket storyline.
Saffron’s Rocket sequence is one of the more important story sections in the Kanto portion of Infinite Fusion. Expect numerous battles, fused Pokémon and major encounters before the city returns to normal.
Once Team Rocket has been dealt with, you can focus on Sabrina.
Badge 6 – Sabrina in Saffron City
Sabrina is the sixth Kanto Gym Leader.
Dark, Ghost and Bug attacks are traditionally useful against Psychic Pokémon, but you should always check the full typing of a fusion instead of attacking purely according to the head or sprite appearance.
After defeating Sabrina, you obtain your sixth badge and gain access to the progression needed to cross large bodies of water.
Your next main destination is Cinnabar Island.
How to Reach Cinnabar Island
From Fuchsia City, travel south through Route 19 and continue across the water toward Route 20.
Follow the route until you reach Cinnabar Island.
If you become stuck around this portion of the game, the community FAQ gives a simple progression hint: investigate the mansion in the northeast of Cinnabar and the docks in the south.
Cinnabar Island and Pokémon Mansion
The Cinnabar Gym is not the only thing you need to investigate.
Explore the Pokémon Mansion and complete the required island progression.
Take your time here. Cinnabar becomes important to both the Gym challenge and the Team Rocket storyline that follows.
Once you have completed the necessary mansion events, challenge Blaine.
Badge 7 – Blaine on Cinnabar Island
Blaine specializes in Fire-oriented Pokémon.
Water, Ground and Rock moves are useful starting points, but fused opponents can cover weaknesses that would normally make a Fire team straightforward.
Defeat Blaine to receive your seventh badge.
You might expect to immediately return to Viridian, but Infinite Fusion adds another major story sequence first.
Cinnabar Harbor and the Stolen Seagallop
Head toward Cinnabar’s harbor.
Team Rocket becomes involved with the Seagallop Ferry, leading you away from ordinary Kanto progression and toward Mt. Ember.
You will need to follow them through the Offshore Road.
This is one of the points where Infinite Fusion moves furthest away from a simple FireRed-style walkthrough.
Offshore Road and Mt. Ember
Follow the water route toward the Sevii area and Mt. Ember.
The route uses strong currents, so navigation is partly a matter of understanding where the water will carry you.
Continue toward Mt. Ember and pursue Team Rocket through the area.
This storyline also connects to Moltres and later access to other legendary Pokémon.
Once the Mt. Ember events are complete, your next required Gym objective is back in Viridian City. The wiki FAQ likewise identifies Viridian City as the destination after the Cinnabar sequence.
Badge 8 – Giovanni in Viridian City
Return to the Gym that was locked near the beginning of your journey.
Giovanni is waiting inside.
This is your final Kanto Gym battle, and you should now be using a properly developed fusion team rather than relying on early-game combinations.
Before challenging him, check:
- held items;
- movesets;
- duplicated weaknesses;
- healing items;
- whether any important Pokémon are close to evolving;
- whether reversing a fusion creates a better type combination.
Defeat Giovanni to obtain the eighth badge.
You can finally challenge the Pokémon League.
Route 22 and the Road to the Pokémon League
Travel west from Viridian City to Route 22.
Prepare for another rival battle and then continue toward the League gate.
With all eight Kanto badges, the path toward Victory Road is finally open.
Stock up before entering. Victory Road is much easier when you have enough healing items, status recovery and PP restoration to avoid repeatedly returning to a Pokémon Center.
Victory Road
Victory Road is the final dungeon between you and the Pokémon League.
Do not treat every trainer as something to avoid. The experience here is useful because the Elite Four requires much more consistency than most ordinary battles.
Your team should ideally have answers to several different archetypes rather than being built around defeating one specific type.
When you finally reach Indigo Plateau, heal, organize your items and save before starting the League challenge.
Pokémon Infinite Fusion Elite Four
The Infinite Fusion Elite Four follows the familiar concept of fighting several elite trainers without ordinary breaks between battles, but their fused Pokémon make type prediction significantly less straightforward.
The established Elite Four consists of:
Lorelei → Bruno → Agatha → Lance → Champion battle
Their exact teams and even specialties can differ by mode. The current community walkthrough specifically notes that Remix changes both Gym Leader and Elite Four types compared with Classic.
How to Prepare for the Elite Four
Bring a team with broad offensive coverage rather than six Pokémon built around one strategy.
Useful coverage commonly includes:
- Electric or Grass;
- Water;
- Ice;
- Ground;
- Fighting;
- Dark or Ghost;
- Fairy;
- strong neutral STAB attacks.
Do not forget status effects either. Sleep, paralysis, burns, hazards and setup moves can make difficult fusion matchups considerably easier.
Defeat the Champion to complete the main Kanto story.
But Pokémon Infinite Fusion is far from finished.
Pokemon Infinite Fusion Postgame Walkthrough
After becoming Champion, the postgame expands the adventure into Johto and the Sevii Islands.
There are eight additional badges, bringing the total to 16. Obtaining all eight postgame badges eventually gives you access to Mt. Silver.
The established postgame badge progression is:
| Badge | Leader | Location |
|---|---|---|
| 9 | Whitney | Goldenrod City |
| 10 | Kurt | Azalea Town |
| 11 | Falkner | Violet City |
| 12 | Clair | Blackthorn City |
| 13 | Pryce | Mahogany Town |
| 14 | Morty | Ecruteak City |
| 15 | Chuck | Boon Island |
| 16 | Jasmine | Kin Island |
Notice that Pokémon Infinite Fusion does not recreate the entire Johto region exactly as it appears in Gold, Silver or Crystal. Some Gym Leaders are instead located in the Sevii Islands. The game’s FAQ specifically notes that western Johto is not fully represented and that the relevant leaders are placed in the Sevii content.
How to Get to Johto
After becoming Champion, follow the postgame story and return to Saffron City.
Johto is connected through the train system.
The established route uses the Train Pass associated with Saffron and the train station in the northern part of the city.
Your first major Johto destination is Goldenrod City.
Badge 9 – Whitney in Goldenrod City
After completing the Pokémon League, Goldenrod Gym becomes available.
Whitney is the first postgame Gym Leader.
The level curve increases significantly during this stage, so do not expect your League-winning team to automatically dominate Johto.
The Plain Badge becomes your ninth badge overall.
From here, travel south through Route 34 toward Ilex Forest and Azalea Town.
Badge 10 – Kurt in Azalea Town
Infinite Fusion makes a major change in Azalea: the Gym Leader here is Kurt, the famous Poké Ball craftsman, rather than simply recreating the original Johto Gym battle.
When you first reach the town, there is a local problem that must be resolved before the Gym challenge becomes available.
Complete the town events and defeat Kurt to earn the Hive Badge.
Badge 11 – Falkner in Violet City
Continue through the Johto routes until you reach Violet City.
Violet Gym uses a wind-based puzzle that requires careful movement and timing.
Falkner awaits at the end.
Defeat him to earn the Zephyr Badge.
Make sure you also explore Sprout Tower. Its postgame progression contains an important movement item that becomes useful for reaching later areas.
Badge 12 – Clair in Blackthorn City
Your next major badge target is Clair in Blackthorn City.
Expect Dragon-oriented opponents and prepare accordingly.
Ice and Fairy attacks are particularly valuable tools, but fused Pokémon can have secondary typings that remove or introduce weaknesses.
Defeat Clair to receive the Rising Badge.
You can also explore the Dragon’s Den as part of the wider Blackthorn content.
Badge 13 – Pryce in Mahogany Town
The journey toward Mahogany takes you through the Ice Mountains.
This area contains far more than a simple route between two towns. There are optional encounters and legendary-related content for players exploring the wider postgame.
Eventually you will reach Mahogany Town and challenge Pryce.
Defeat Pryce for the Glacier Badge.
Badge 14 – Morty in Ecruteak City
Continue through Route 42/Mt. Mortar toward Ecruteak.
Morty’s Gym is not immediately available without interacting with the surrounding story.
Investigate the Burned Tower and locate Morty so that he returns to the Gym.
The eventual Gym challenge focuses on Ghost Pokémon and includes one particularly troublesome Wonder Guard matchup in established versions. The community FAQ specifically recommends Fairy-type or status-based answers for that encounter.
Defeat Morty for the Fog Badge.
At this stage, you have completed the available Johto mainland Gym progression and need the Sevii Islands for the final two badges.
Sevii Islands Walkthrough
The Sevii Islands contain much more than two Gym battles.
They include locations such as:
- Knot Island;
- Kindle Road;
- Boon Island;
- Brine Road;
- Deep Sea;
- Kin Island;
- Bond Bridge;
- Chrono Island;
- Water Labyrinth.
They also contain legendary encounters, side quests, special items, movement upgrades and some of the most unusual exploration in the game.
Do not rush directly from Gym to Gym if you want to experience the full postgame.
Badge 15 – Chuck on Boon Island
Chuck is located on Boon Island rather than the traditional Johto location you may expect.
Boon Island can be reached through the Sevii progression.
Prepare strong answers to Fighting-oriented Pokémon, especially Flying, Psychic and Fairy attacks, while remembering that fusion typings can change individual weaknesses.
Defeat Chuck to receive the Storm Badge.
Only one badge remains.
Badge 16 – Jasmine on Kin Island
The final badge is connected with Jasmine, who is found around Kin Island during the Sevii storyline.
Complete her surrounding quest before the battle becomes available.
Jasmine uses Steel-focused Pokémon, making Fire, Ground and Fighting coverage particularly valuable.
Defeat her to obtain the Mineral Badge.
You now have all 16 badges.
What to Do After Getting All 16 Badges
Getting the sixteenth badge opens the final major stage of progression: Mt. Silver.
The League Gate connects toward Mt. Silver, but the game also requires the associated postgame story progression before you can simply walk through. The wiki notes that access is tied to all 16 badges and a return to Oak’s Lab for the relevant Mt. Silver event.
Mt. Silver should be treated as endgame content.
Bring your strongest team, finish important evolutions, optimize movesets and reconsider any fusion that has become a liability.
Mt. Silver
Mt. Silver represents one of the largest final challenges in the established Infinite Fusion postgame.
By this point you should have:
- all 16 badges;
- a properly trained team;
- strong held items;
- reliable recovery;
- wide type coverage;
- high-quality fusions;
- answers to unusual abilities and defensive combinations.
Do not focus entirely on offensive stats when building your final team. A fusion with slightly lower raw power but excellent typing, ability synergy and defensive coverage can be much more useful during difficult endgame battles.
Completing the Mt. Silver content also feeds into further high-level activities and rematches.
Legendary Pokémon and Optional Postgame Content
You can continue playing long after finishing the main badge journey.
Pokémon Infinite Fusion includes numerous legendary-related events spread across Kanto, Johto and the Sevii Islands.
Depending on the content you have already completed, exploration can lead you toward Pokémon associated with locations such as:
- Power Plant;
- Seafoam Islands;
- Mt. Ember;
- Navel Rock;
- Lake of Rage;
- Hall of Origin;
- Ruby and Sapphire-related Sevii areas;
- other special postgame locations.
There are also special fusion encounters involving legendary Pokémon.
Do not assume that defeating the strongest available trainer means you have seen everything. Infinite Fusion rewards players who revisit old locations after unlocking new movement abilities.
Gym Leader Rematches
The Elite Four and Gym Leaders are not necessarily finished with you after the first victory.
The Elite Four can be challenged repeatedly, and higher rematch tiers become available according to postgame progression.
Gym Leader rematches provide another reason to refine your team after collecting all 16 badges.
These fights are especially useful if your goal is building optimized endgame fusions rather than simply finishing the story.
Best Tips for Completing Pokemon Infinite Fusion
Do Not Keep a Bad Fusion Just Because It Looks Good
Custom sprites are one of the most enjoyable parts of Infinite Fusion, but appearance and battle performance are different things.
Check:
- typing;
- base stats;
- ability;
- moves;
- weaknesses;
- resistances.
Sometimes reversing the same fusion produces a substantially better result.
Carry DNA Splicers
Fusion is not something you should only do once at the beginning of the game.
As you catch stronger Pokémon and obtain new abilities, revisit your team.
A combination that works well against Brock may be poorly suited for the Elite Four.
Build Around Weaknesses
When adding a new fusion, check the weaknesses of your existing team.
If four members are weak to Ground, adding another powerful Pokémon with the same weakness may make your team worse overall.
Speak to NPCs
Many of the game’s useful mechanics are introduced through NPC conversations rather than mandatory tutorial screens.
If you enter a new town, explore the Pokémon Center, Hotel and unusual buildings before leaving.
Complete Side Quests
Side quests can reward you with useful items, Pokémon and quality-of-life upgrades.
They also make exploration easier later.
If you repeatedly find yourself thinking, “There must be an easier way to do this,” there is a good chance the game provides one through a quest or special item.
Do Not Follow Old Trainer Levels Too Closely
Trainer teams have changed between versions, and Classic, Remix, difficulty settings and randomization can alter what you face.
Use walkthroughs to determine where to go and what to do, but build your battle strategy around the Pokémon actually shown in your game.
Pokemon Infinite Fusion Badge Order
For a quick reference, the standard progression contains these 16 badge leaders:
Kanto: Brock → Misty → Lt. Surge → Erika → Koga → Sabrina → Blaine → Giovanni
Postgame: Whitney → Kurt → Falkner → Clair → Pryce → Morty → Chuck → Jasmine
Once all 16 are complete, continue the Mt. Silver progression.

Final Thoughts
The best way to play Pokémon Infinite Fusion is to use a walkthrough as a compass rather than treating it as a list of instructions you cannot deviate from.
The core progression takes you through Kanto’s eight Gyms and the Pokémon League, but some of the game’s most memorable content comes from experimenting with fusions, completing side quests, exploring optional locations and continuing into Johto and the Sevii Islands.
If you become lost, return to the basic progression:
Pallet → Pewter → Cerulean → Vermilion → Lavender → Celadon → Fuchsia → Saffron → Cinnabar → Mt. Ember → Viridian → Pokémon League → Johto → Sevii Islands → Mt. Silver.
Follow that path while exploring everything around it, and you will experience far more of Pokémon Infinite Fusion than you would by simply rushing from one Gym battle to the next.
